Historical note
Slot Ammersoyen. Omstreeks 1300 gebouwde burcht op ongeveer vierkante plattegrond met vier zware, ronde hoektorens, hersteld in de 17e eeuw na in 1590 door brand geteisterd te zijn. Woonvleugel aan de zuidzijde; twee zijvleugels, waarvan de oostelijke 16e eeuws is. De gevels rond de binnenplaats hebben vensters met renaissance-ontlastingsbogen. De hoofdvleugel aan de zuidzijde is onderkelderd. Aan de noordzijde een poortgebouw met ingangspoort in Vlaams-barokke omlijsting. Voorburcht met poortgebouw, verbouwd in de 17e eeuw. Het slot is in restauratie na beschadiging in 1944-'45.
