Winchester Palace
Winchester Palace was built in the early thirteenth century for the bishops of Winchester. A fire in 1814 destroyed much of it. Surviving walls of the Great Hall include a rose window in the west gable; a medieval-style garden occupies the hall’s remains.

Lecture éditoriale
Editorial interpretation: the surviving window and walls suggest a reading of the palace through fragments. The garden adds a present-day layer to that encounter, encouraging attention to the relationship between architectural remains and planted space.
