Sintra National Palace
The National Palace of Sintra developed through successive royal building campaigns. Gothic and Manueline architecture combines with Mudejar decoration and Hispano-Moresque tiles. The kitchen's paired conical chimneys belong to the enlargement under João I. Manuel I added the Room of the Coat of Arms. The palace ceased to be a royal residence in 1910 and later became a museum.

Lecture éditoriale
Read Sintra as an accumulation of royal interventions rather than the work of a single reign. The kitchen chimneys offer a clear external landmark, while the tiled rooms and heraldic decoration suggest a closer reading of the interiors. This is an editorial approach to the building's documented layers, not a proposed reconstruction of how every room was used.
