Lecture éditoriale
The operator distinguishes the former lodge on the moated island from the standing house built on higher ground in the Tudor period. The estate's earlier Boleyn association concerns that sequence of ownership and sites, rather than proving that the present residence was Anne Boleyn's home.
The existing house combines a Tudor front with a later Georgian addition. Garden development accelerated after the Sellick family's arrival in 1981, including restoration of the walled garden, planting and changes around the water features.
Our editorial reading: the water, house and gardens belong to related but different histories. The present landscape is an active modern interpretation around older structures.
