Lecture éditoriale

Historic England describes the older hall as late sixteenth century, with subsequent alterations. Its short account identifies timber framing, brick and plaster infill, a tiled roof, lattice casements and a central chimney.

Nineteenth-century brick additions extended the building to the east and south. The listing cautiously states that chamfered beams were reported to survive inside, rather than presenting that interior feature as a complete modern survey. Current hospitality facilities form a further layer of use beyond the historic core.

Our editorial reading: distinguish the scale of the early house from the larger business that now occupies the site. The older fabric offers one part of the present experience.
