Lecture éditoriale

The estate's history dates Anthony Cage's house to 1580 and identifies an E-shaped arrangement still legible in the central western bays. It also distinguishes nineteenth-century enlargement from the earlier residence.

Later Briscoe family work shaped the formal garden, including the rose garden, stone balustrade, clipped planting and double herbaceous border. Restoration has continued, making the landscape a maintained and evolving setting rather than an untouched historic scene.

Our editorial reading: the older core and later garden display offer different expressions of domestic ambition. Their relationship is best understood through successive building and planting campaigns.
