Lecture éditoriale
The official house history dates Buscot Park to 1780–1783, when it was built for Edward Loveden Townsend. Subsequent ownership brought changes to the estate, house and collections. Alexander Henderson purchased the estate in 1889 and later became the first Lord Faringdon.
The Faringdon Collection includes paintings, furniture, ceramics and other objects displayed in the house. The property's account links Henderson with Harold Peto's Italianate water garden and acquisitions including Burne-Jones's Briar Rose series. Later work returned the house towards its eighteenth-century appearance. The family continues to care for the property on behalf of the National Trust.
Our editorial reading: treat house, collecting and garden design as interdependent projects. Their histories do not share one founding date, and the present arrangement reflects successive decisions about display.
