Redaktionelle Einordnung
Historic England dates the present principal house to about 1780–1790. Its gault-brick front has five windows and an open columned porch beneath a broad fanlight. Earlier occupation of the estate does not establish that the whole standing house is sixteenth century.
The listing records a hall extending through the building, a curved stair and contemporary decorative features including fireplaces, cornices and shutters. The current operator presents the property for weddings, retreats and events, with facilities beyond the older house.
Our editorial reading: distinguish the Georgian residence from the larger present-day venue. The formal approach and interior circulation provide useful clues to its original domestic organisation.
