Redaktionelle Einordnung
The family's account traces the hall to a house built after 1507. It describes an H-shaped arrangement, with a central hall between domestic wings, and a front refaced in pink sandstone after 1603. The portico displays successive classical orders.
Later changes include an eastern Queen Anne wing and early-nineteenth-century work for Thomas Lister Parker. A picture gallery added in 1807 subsequently became the dining room. Panelling, portraits, furniture and antiquities are presented as accumulated layers of occupation and collecting, rather than the contents of a single untouched Tudor interior.
Our editorial reading: the interest lies in comparing those layers. Classical display and Regency collecting altered the experience of an older hall without erasing its underlying domestic history.

Besuchsempfehlung
Check current guided-tour dates and booking requirements with the hall. Private functions and the wider estate's activities have separate arrangements; a wedding or accommodation booking does not establish access to the historic interiors.
