Editorial reading
Historic England dates the principal house to around 1710, while allowing for possible seventeenth-century origins. Its composition combines a raised central section, pediment and stone dressings within a seven-window front.
Interior work around 1730 contributed panelling, doorways and fireplaces. The listing also records a central hall opening towards the staircase and gallery, showing how circulation and display were organised. These details belong to several campaigns, rather than one entirely unchanged Georgian interior.
Our editorial reading: the balanced front is a useful starting point, but the routes through the house reveal more about domestic life and later adaptation.
