Editorial reading

Historic England describes the surviving centre of Hole Park as seventeenth- and eighteenth-century work. Its account records restoration of the façade around 1960 and demolition of the nineteenth-century wings at that time.

The remaining composition has red-brick walls, two storeys and attics, a hipped tiled roof and a nine-bay front. Projecting sections give rhythm to the façade, while the listed entrance is a modern doorcase designed in a Georgian manner. The distinction matters: a classical detail can be a later restoration rather than original Georgian fabric.

Our editorial reading: the absent wings are essential to understanding the present scale. Hole Park's appearance reflects an active decision to reduce and recompose a larger house.

Recommendation

Confirm current visitor arrangements directly with the responsible operator. Any garden opening should be checked separately from access to the house; the listing establishes neither a present public schedule nor unrestricted entry to private interiors.
