Editorial reading
Historic England identifies the date 1706 on a carved plaque above the central entrance. Its account also records changes in the mid-eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, so the dated doorway should not be taken as proof that all visible fabric belongs to one campaign.
The principal front has five bays, sash windows and an open porch supported on iron columns. A rear wing preserves traces of mullioned openings. The listed interior includes a stair with turned balusters and, at the rear, a dairy with a vaulted stone ceiling.
Our editorial reading: the contrast between the formal front and working domestic spaces is especially useful. The dairy and older window traces provide evidence beyond the house's principal façade.
