Editorial reading
The operator dates the standing hall to 1535 and distinguishes it from the older moated settlement. Its account connects the medieval enclosure and fishponds with the Prior of Norwich, whose agricultural property supplied food to his household.
The present owners describe restoring the fishponds and developing the gardens after their arrival in 1993. A working walled vegetable garden, formal and informal planting and the moat therefore bring together features of different ages. The Tudor residence should not be assigned the same date as the surrounding medieval waterworks.
Our editorial reading: the water is both a visual setting and evidence of estate management. Read the house, food-producing landscape and modern garden restoration as related histories rather than one unchanged Tudor scene.

Recommendation
Check current seasonal garden dates and book any house tour separately. The operator advertises guided history visits including the ground floor, moat and fishponds; ordinary garden admission should not be assumed to include the house.
