Editorial reading
The operator attributes the construction of Headlam Hall around the turn of the seventeenth century to Henry and Anne Birkbeck. Its account identifies an elaborate oak fireplace displaying the family arms as a surviving feature associated with that household.
Later owners altered the south wing and west elevation during the Georgian period. A northern service wing was added in 1912, using materials from an older building nearby. Following the Robinson family's purchase in 1977, repairs and the gradual conversion of rooms established the present hotel business.
Our editorial reading: the transition from family house to hotel is part of the architectural story. Former service spaces and altered room uses help explain how a historic residence acquired an income-producing future.

Recommendation
Consult the hotel for current accommodation, dining, spa or golf arrangements. These are distinct offers: confirm the spaces included in your booking rather than assuming that all historic rooms or grounds are available for independent inspection.
