Editorial reading
Historic England identifies an L-shaped house with a gabled central entrance rising above the main two-storey front. Limestone walls, stone details, finials and mullioned openings contribute to its period appearance.
The listing makes an important distinction: many of the windows were renewed in the later nineteenth century, although their positions and style probably reflect an earlier arrangement. It also records an early chimney, a surviving seventeenth-century doorway, a stair with spiral balusters and a stone fireplace with a four-centred arch.
Our editorial reading: Fulbeck illustrates how restoration and replacement can preserve an older architectural language. The appearance of a window alone cannot establish that its fabric is original.
