Editorial reading
Historic England identifies the dated sixteenth-century central range separately from later additions. The principal façade combines projecting bays, shaped gables and mullioned windows with wings that use different window forms and architectural details.
The north-west front has a more classical composition, including a pedimented central pavilion, sash windows and rusticated stonework around the entrance. The listing also records seventeenth-century stairs among the significant interior features. Its description makes clear that the standing house is a composite building rather than a complete Elizabethan survival.
Our editorial reading: compare the fronts to see how later generations negotiated the appearance of an older residence. Different window types and entrances provide practical clues to that process.

Recommendation
The estate advertises visits by appointment and on notified days, but its house-opening page contains an old 2022 notice. Contact the estate for current house and garden arrangements before travelling; do not rely on that historical notice as a present schedule.
