From the register

Château fort construit à la fin du 13e ou au début du 14e siècle. Il appartient à la ligne défensive de châteaux face à la Savoie. Château partiellement détruit vers 1468, acquis en 1599 par un riche négociant Martin Coret, puis remanié dans le courant du 17e siècle et pendant le 19e siècle. En 1923, le château est acheté par Suzanne Valadon, qui y fait de nombreux séjours avec son fils Maurice Utrillo.
