From the register

Après avoir subi de nombreux assauts durant la lutte entre les ducs de Bretagne et le roi de France, le château fut rasé par Charles VIII. Il n’en reste qu’une partie du donjon. Le duc Jean V y avait fait exécuter de grands travaux pour augmenter les fortifications, qui furent complétées par François II. Le château possédait dix tours en plus du donjon. Les murs d’enceinte avaient cinq mètres d’épaisseur.
