From the register

Première implantation d’un lieu fortifié au 11e siècle, vers 1060. Château actuel reconstruit par les Dauphins d’Auvergne vers 1261, agrandi et consolidé au 14e siècle. Architecture féodale sur la vallée de l’Allagnon.
