From the register

Site fortifié du haut Moyen Age, ruiné par les combats de 1918. Entièrement reconstruit de 1923 à 1928 par Henri Jacquelin, architecte normand originaire d’Evreux (Eure) , qui réalise l’ultime château « troubadour » de la Lorraine, un pastiche qui reprend quelques vestiges du 11e siècle. L’ensemble a été financé par une bienfaitrice américaine, Miss Belle Skinner.
